I Need a Fever Please!

Conner was sick on a Friday and Saturday. He had to stay home from school Friday and The Big Elfreich Christmas on Saturday.  Finally his fever broke in the night Saturday. We vetured out for the first time Sunday night to Menards then Cheddars. While at dinner, I asked Steve if he could take Conner to school in the morning, because I had to be at work at 5:30.

Conner said "What? Tomorrow is School? Can't I stay home again?"
Me ... "No, you are better now."
Conner ... "But my throat hurts and my ears hurt."
Me ..... "I asked you earlier and you said everything felt fine, the only way you get to stay home from school is if you have a FEVER!"
Conner ... "Well, How do I get one of those then?"

Picture frame

The other day while shopping at Kohls, I purchased a nine slot picture frame. Conner says...
"But Mommy, what if you don't like the pictures they put in the frame for you?"
"We don't know those people!"

Two Daddies for Jesus

Steve has an ongoing joke with Joe Muensterman. For years, when Joe puts his nativity set out on the lawn, Steve has stolen a piece of it. So, now Conner is taking over the joke. This year, we took Joseph for a bit, and Joe sent us a picture of another Joseph. We had the original but Joe found another one to replace the stolen one. When we went to return Joseph Christmas day, there was the other one sitting by Mary. So, Conner said...
"Well, now Baby Jesus is gonna have two Daddies!"

Let's Buy a Fireplace

Two different times, Conner has seen portable fireplaces at Menards and Lowes and asked if we can buy one so Santa can come through it at Christmas.  We don't have a chimney, but we have a magic key for Santa to use to come in the front door. So, I told him that we don't need a fireplace or space heater, Santa will use the door. His reply was
"If you say so, I guess you've done this before!"

When I was dropping Conner off at school the other morning, He asked me to read him the menu.
I said "For breakfast you are having Bisquits.......... and for lunch you are having chicken and ......."
Conner asked "What are the late kids having for dinner?"
I said "The late kids are having Turkey."
Conner laughs "You mean like my Turkey Girl?"
I said "Yes!"
A light bulb went off in his brain and he said "Wait a minute, you mean Turkey we eat comes from a turkey?"

Goodbye Rooster!

The Rooster we inherited with the new house, died a couple weeks ago. Conner was pretty upset about this for about 10 minutes. He never asked where the Rooster went. He didn't know about burying. The next day, we passed a cemetery, and he asked me what that place was. I had been asked that a hundred times before and always told him that's  where people go to visit friends.
But this time, having just dealt with the Rooster's death, I decided to tell him.

I said "that is where we burry people when they die."
Conner said "Is Rooster and Charlie (Guinea Pig) there?"
I said "NO." "Your dad buried the rooster in the woods"
Conner - "Can we dig him up and see him?"
Me- "NO!!!!"

When we got home....
Conner- "Dad, mom said you buried Rooster in the ground, can we go see him?"
Steve- "I'll show you tomorrow."
Conner - "Well, how did you get Rooster to get in the hole?"
Steve- "What do you mean?"
Conner- "Well, wasn't he scared to get in the hole and get covered up?"
Steve- "He was dead when I put him in there."
Conner- "Did you have to chase him and catch him to get him in the hole?"
Steve- "No, Conner, he was dead."
Conner- "Well, how does he get to heaven if he is dead in a hole?"

Tough questions!!

Illustrated by?

When we read to Conner, we always say the authors name and who illustrated it. I read the book, then he reads it to me. I read Conner "The Bible for Me." When it was his turn to read it to me, he said..... "The Bible, Written by God and Illustrated by Abby, Sophie, Tim, and Stephanie Wollenmann."

There are those words that Conner says wrong everyday that become so normal that we forget how funny they sound.

Animals = Aminals

Ambulance= Ambliance

Country= Crunchry

We live in the Crunchry now and have Aminals! Hope they never need an ambliance!

Mr. Mailman

Conner asked me if I would order him a Fireman Sam costume from the internet.
Me- "We are not going to be buying you anything else real soon, you have a lot of stuff,"
Conner- "Well, that's ok, I'll just ask the mailman to bring me one."

Mad Mommy

Conner was telling his class that he bought a new house. They were a little confused and asked where he lived now. Conner told them he lived in an apartment. They didn't know what an apartment was so Ms. Andrea was explaining that it was like several houses connected to each other and you pay rent.
Ms. Andrea asked Conner if there was anything else he wanted to add about apartments,

Conner said- "Well, when you live in an apartment, someone lives on top of you and they make a lot of noise and are really loud and they make your mommy really mad!"

Under One Roof!

Conner asked me the other day....
"Is our new house the one we are going to live in forever? Or are we going to move again sometime?"
Me- No, this is our forever home."
"At least until you get married, then you will move out and get a house with your new wife."
Conner- "Well, I don't ever want to move out mommy, I want to live with you forever."
Me- "Well, I doubt your new wife will want to live with us,"
Conner- "Isabelle will love living with all of us when we get married."

Deer Tipping!

The other day while driving down the road, Conner yells,
"There's a deer!"
Steve puts on the breaks a little expecting one to run out in front of us.
Conner said "No, he's not going to run, he's just tipped over."
Me- "What do you mean tipped over?"
Conner- "He is laying on his back with his legs in the air, he tipped over!"
Sure enough on the way back through, Conner showed us the deer that had all four legs pointing to Heaven. Sure enough, that poor deer had tipped over...... a few days ago!

Where is Hilton???

We went to Hilton Head last week. Returning to daycare, Conner took some vacation pictures and a wooden ship he had bought as a souvenir. All the kids came rushing over to hear about his trip and see the wooden ship.

Conner- "I got this ship from Hilton Head."
Henry- "So Hilton gave that to you?"
Conner- "No, there is no Hilton, we were in his head."
Henry- "What?"
Conner - "Yeah, We stayed in Hilton's Head all week, but we never found Hilton!"

I thought Ms. Andrea and I were going to cry in laughter watching this conversation unfold!

A Call to Mom and Dad

One day at Daycare, Conner was testing Ms. Andrea repeatedly. This was out of Character for him, so she said "Conner, if you don't change your attitude, I am going to have to give mommy and daddy a call."
Conner quickly told her "Oh, Well, both of their phones are broken right now!"

Charlie

So, Charlie, our Guinea Pig, has been gone for a little over 6 months. He stopped eating and pooping, so he had to go to the vet and they trimmed his teeth and put him on a liquid diet. But, Charlie never started eating again and died a few days later. The vet thought he wasn't eating because of his teeth. I always thought he had a blockage because he was fine one day and then he just changed.

This week on the way home.....
C-  "Mom, there is Charlie's hospital. Why did we take him there again?"
Me- "Well, he stopped eating and pooping, so we knew something was wrong and we needed help."
C- "Well, it's probably because he ate some candy."
Me- "What do you mean?"
C- "Well, one day I was playing with Charlie, and then I went to the kitchen, and when I came back to my room, someone had put a skittle in his bowl."
Me- "Who would have put a skittle in his bowl?"
C- "Well, I didn't see who did it, but I know I didn't do it. I told Charlie he wasn't supposed to eat Candy and then he ate it."

It took 6 months, but we may have found an answer!!!!!!

I'll Wanna Spend $

After work, I told Conner that we had about 15 minutes to waste before Kelsey would be home.
Me- "Let's go into Target for a bit! Want to?"
Conner- " Well, I think if I go into Target, I'm just gonna want to spend money, so we better not go. Let's just go somewhere and get a soft drink."

What I like about Grandmother

I was on the phone Monday night, I hang up, and Conner said.....
C- "Who was that?"
Me - "That was Jamie, she is calling to check on Grandmother."
C- "Everyone is calling to check on Grandmother today."
Me- "Yes, everyone is worried about her and everyone likes her. Why do you think everyone likes Grandmother?"
Conner- " Because Grandmother is Fun, and Cute, and So SWEET, and she makes a really good Breakfast!!!!"

Peaches

Me- "Conner, I bought some fresh peaches. Do you want one?"
Conner- "No, I don't like peaches."
Me- "You and Chris used to eat peaches fresh picked when we lived at our old house and you eat canned peaches every day."
Conner- "You see, the older I get, my body starts to not like stuff."
Two minutes later, I saw him take a peach and eat it.

1/2 PaPaw 1/2 Grandad

The other morning, I laid a pile of clothes out and told Conner to get dressed. We later saw him, dancing in the hall buck naked.
Steve said -" I don't know where he gets the dance moves and his silliness, I think he is 1/2 PaPaw and 1/2 Grandad."
At that moment, we look and Conner is putting on some underwear and  he says...
"Nope, not Grandad, .....HE  doesn't wear underwear."

Marrying MeMaw

Conner - " I think I am going to Marry MeMew."
Me - "But, I thought you were going to marry me?"
C- "No, you are already married, and MeMaw's never been married, so I think I will marry her."
Me- " Well, if she's never been married, who is Grandad?"
C-"Well, he's my Grandad!!!!"

Did her leg fall off?

My Grandmother fell and broke her hip Saturday Morning. I was explaining to Conner what happened, where the hip is, and that is holds the leg in place.
Conner "Did her leg fall off?"
Me "No, but she will be in the hospital for awhile."
Then the tears started.....
C-  "But then I won't be able to go to her house tomorrow for breakfast."

Play Tag

We were driving down the road the other day, and Conner spotted a deer. So, I stopped in the road, and we say another one. They were in the grass to the left, and kinda looking around deciding what they wanted to do. Eat grass or play in traffic. So, I said to Steve..... "I can't decide what they are doing." And from the backseat we hear "Mom, they are just playing tag."

Another Day for MOM??

We had "Mornings with Mom" at pre-school Friday. So, Conner and I had muffins and juice. He didn't eat because he couldn't wait to give me the gift he'd made me. We go down to his classroom, and he gives me a necklace. He wants me to take a picture to show my friends at work because he said he was going to keep it and I could have it back in a few days!  What???  Then, he said
"So, What did you guys get me?"
I said "No, it's Mother's Day, when we celebrate mom's"
He said "I thought it was like Valentine's day?"
I said "No, it's just for mom's"
Conner said "So, I'm not getting anything?"

Later that day when my boys remembered they should get me a card and maybe a gift...
Conner "Dad, didn't we just celebrate mom last month?" (my b-day and anniversary).
"We just gave her gifts, why does she get so many days?"

A few days later-
Conner-  "When is Daddy's Mother's Day?"

C- "Probably something really special that I don't have."
Me- " I have an idea, why don't you save your allowance and when we get a house you can put it toward a really nice club house or tree house."
C- "Well, I don't want to waste MY money on that, I want to waste YOUR money on a clubhouse."

Grandmother always has the best answers,,,,She said...
"God is so awesome and great, that he just says poof, and rubs his hands, and his laundry is all clean and done."

More Toys Please!

Conner and Steve went to the mall Wednesday night. Conner was very bad, so when they got home, Steve made Conner spend the remainder of the evening in his room. He was allowed to play in his room quietly, but he wasn't allowed to come out. He was supposed to be thinking about his behavior.

Steve went in to check on him and said "Have you been thinking about why you are in your room?"

Conner said "Yes Daddy, I have thought about two things while I've been in here,
One is- I was very bad at the mall."
Steve said "Yes, What was the other thing you've been thinking about?"
Conner said "Well, I've been looking around my room tonight and realize I DON"T HAVE ENOUGH TOYS!"

Where is your Hair?

Monday, at the Doctor, Conner whispered in my ear. He asked me "why Dr. Phillips doesn't have any hair?" I chuckled. Dr. Phillips said "what is going on over there?'
I told Conner to go ahead and ask him because I knew Dr. Phillips would take the question in stride.
So, Conner was too embarrassed. So, I said, "Conner wants to ask you why you don't have any hair."
Dr. Phillips laughed, a lot, and said,
"Well Conner, that is a good question. You see. I had a patch of hair here and a patch of hair there, and nothing in between. And when I was in high school, I decided I would never fall victim to the "Comb Over" that my dad, grandad, and all my uncles did, so I started shaving my head. "

Conner said "For Real?"
Dr. Phillips said "Yes, Conner, For Real."
Conner said "Every time it starts to grow, you shave it?"
Dr. Phillips said "Yes, everyday."

Poor Dr. Phillips. I guess Conner thought that he asked him a lot of questions, so he could ask some too.
